EXC WICKER CESTA/LEATHER AGED/BURLAP LINER AVG--
About 32 inches long (measured along open side edge) There was something stamped in black ink on the glove part but I cant read it.
From Dania Jai-Alai in the 1980s, this one has been on display in a local museum for many years. The entire piece is hand woven the traditional way with the wood base, woven wicker and a burlap glove with a leather back that is split for movement. The entire wicker part is in superb condition. The leather glove on the end has a lot of surface flaking. but the leather is all solid and the burlap inner part has come undone in areas. I tried it on and the hands were pretty small. If you remember the fronton in Dania or Miami back in the Miami Vice 80s it was an exciting game but everyone thought the results were pre-determined. Gambling on individual peoples performance is the EASIEST to rig, but if you didnt know how it was rigged, you were still GAMBLING. The ball travels over 180 mph in jai alai since you have the long cesta (wicker glove) to accelerate it far more than just an arm can.
