PITTSBURGH — The Giants are 2-6 with nine games left in the regular season, coming out of Monday night’s 26-18 loss to the Steelers — their third primetime loss of 2024.
Daniel Jones proved once again why he’s not the long-term answer under center as he finished with a QB rating of 72.7 and threw the game-sealing interception when the Giants needed a big gain the most.

So, yeah, the Giants are going QB hunting in April.
With that, let’s take an early look at where the Giants stand in the projected order for the 2025 NFL Draft, which obviously will change between now and the end of the regular season.
1. Panthers, 1-7
2. Titans, 1-6
3. Patriots, 2-6
4. Jets, 2-6
5. Jaguars, 2-6
6. Saints, 2-6
7. Raiders, 2-6
8. Browns, 2-6
9. Giants, 2-6
10. Dolphins, 2-5
11. Bengals, 3-5
12. Rams, 3-4
13. Cowboys, 3-4
Those are all the teams with three wins or fewer.
But who, ahead of the Giants, might think of drafting a quarterback?
The Patriots won’t since they took Drake Maye — who looks rock solid, despite the small sample size — at No. 3 this year. Ditto for the Jaguars, who have Trevor Lawrence.
The Panthers, Titans, Jets, Saints, Raiders and Browns, however, are a different story. That’s not to say that all of them will pick one — especially since this year’s QB crop is not nearly as revered as last year’s was. But it’s something to keep in mind as Schoen and Co. try to fix this team.
The Giants are expected to cut Jones after this season, after the conclusion of what is essentially a two-year, $82 million contract — which was a massive mistake by general manager Joe Schoen.
The Giants are now 3-11 in Jones’ starts since he got that deal. He is 24-42-1 in his career.
If the Giants cut Jones after this season, they would free up $19.4 million in salary cap space, with $22.2 million in dead money attached.
The Giants tried hard to replace Jones in this year’s draft, but they didn’t pick high enough (sixth, compared to second for Washington and third for the Patriots) and weren’t able to get Jayden Daniels or Maye, because they closed 4-3 after a 2-8 start last season.
